Finger Puppets by Fellow Etsy Coleagues

Before opening my Etsy shop last week, I've done some research and, among many finds that I plan to post here in the next few weeks, I found these elegant skull finger puppets, also sold on Etsy, by DeweyDecimalCrafts (who is studying to be a librarian, and all her profits go towards her education in library science - so inspiring, and for a good cause, too!):l

I also came across super cool finger puppet maker Lee-Anne Poole of KinkyCozies, who knits these hilarious finger puppets, for adults only!h

"Cave of forgotten Dreams"

This week I watched Werner Herzog's "Cave of Forgotten Dreams", a 3D documentary that was shot inside the Chauvet caves of Southern France, "capturing the oldest known pictorial creations of humankind in their astonishing natural setting" (IMDB). I was deeply moved by the the paintings as well as by the film itself.
This might seem a little off-topic for this blog, but I am actually proud  to be part of this long tradition of depicting animals!
Here are some images from the cave and from the film:

I also found these videos of children's stories told in a Werner Herzog style, here, here, here and here.  I was bit disappointed when I realized these are only imitations. If I could choose anyone in the world to read me a bedtime story, my first choice would definitely be Herzog!

The Complete Finger Puppets Series

Finally the finger puppets project is complete! Bears, rabbits, kangaroos, foxes and cammels, five of each! The fun part is mixing them up and creating all kinds of families. Here are a few:l

More families and combinations on Lazy Animals Etsy shop, that will hopefully open soon. Look up for updates and discounts on Lazy Animals facebook page.g

New Acquisitions

Yesterday I added some beautiful new drawings to my small collection of works by Michal Erez, a dear friend and a brilliant artist. You can find more of those here. h

Michal is also a gifted craft maker, and one of my earliest inspirations. Here are a couple of friends, made by Michal,  that I am so lucky to have.k

Finger Zoo

Introducing the first complete finger zoo set! h

Second from the right is the newest member - the camel, another animal that is very dear to my heart. I think this specific one bears a certain resemblance to a tiger or a panther, at least the animated ones like the pink panther. Let's say this is my tribute to all of you protesters all over the Middle East - I'm sure you're reading my blog right now. Please look deeply into the eyes of this tiger-camel and let your hearts fill up with courage and motivation!n

Also a first appearance on this blog of Mr. Rabbit, second from the left, dedicated to my little friend Yanai, whose finger got bit by a terrible rabbit!h
